GRATITUDE

Enough, And Then A Little More

Gratitude is not pretending everything is fine.
It is the quiet habit of noticing what is already holding you up.

A roof you barely look at.
A body that keeps trying for you.
A message that lands on a hard day.

We are wired to scan for what is missing and what might go wrong.
That kept our ancestors alive, but it also makes “not enough” feel like the default setting.

Gratitude is how you lean the other way.
You do not lie to yourself.
You simply let the good that is already here register all the way in.

To “cultivate gratitude” is to practice seeing.
The light in the room.
The one person who really gets your jokes.
The fact that out of everything happening in the universe, your senses get to touch a tiny slice of it.

Over time, something shifts.
The same life can feel different.
What you have starts to feel like enough, and sometimes, on the good days, more than enough.

PRACTICE

Pick one ordinary thing near you right now. A chair, a song in your headphones, the can in your hand. Take one slow breath and name three ways it quietly supports you. Stay with that for five seconds longer than you normally would. Let the feeling of “this is here for me” spread through your body, even a little. That is gratitude doing its work.
